Guidelines for Submitting
Papers
Topics:
The Society for Amateur Scientists supports research by its membership
in all areas of legitimate science. We are interested in papers
about research projects, development of new techniques, or efforts
to improve science literacy in the community. We welcome queries
from potential contributors. Click
here to e-mail us.
Acceptance:
Papers will be reviewed by members of the SAS staff. Presentation
slots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If you
are not able to secure a presentation slot, or if you cannot attend
the conference personally, you can present your paper at the poster
session (see below). Please note that the Society for Amateur Scientists
is a conservative scientific organization, so papers on paranormal
phenomena, UFOs, and "cosmological Grand Unified Theories" will
not be accepted.
Audience:
Papers should be written so that they can be understood by most
informed, educated laypersons.
Length:
Presentations will last 40 minutes, with five minutes between presentations.
Please make sure your presentation fits comfortably into the time
allotted. Remember to allow for Q & A in your presentation.
Audio-Visual:
Please tell us if your presentation will require the use of a projector,
video, or Internet connection. Specify if you will be using any
visual aids or scientific equipment in your presentation so we can
allot time for setup and removal.
Format:
All papers should be written out and submitted in electronic format.
Acceptable formats include Microsoft Word, html, LaTeX, or plain
text. Graphic images should be submitted as .gif or .jpg files.
Please inquire regarding the use of other formats. Power Point presentations
should have a written script to accompany them.
Poster
Session:
Papers that are not presented "live" will be available for viewing
in the poster session. Papers submitted and accepted for this venue
should be available in both electronic and hard copy versions.
Deadlines:
Please submit your paper/presentation no later than 07 August 2006.
